Artist Spotlight: Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato got her start with that purple dinosaur on the show Barney & Friends. While she had several guest spots, she is best known for role in the film Camp Rock with the Jonas Brothers. Stating that acting was more of a hobby, she pursued her true passion: music. With support from Disney and the Jonases her first album debuted at #2 on the Billboard charts (second to Metallica). On her second album, aptly titled Here We Go Again, she tried to move away from the Jonas Brothers sound, employing songwriters Jon McLaughlin and John Mayer. This resulted in a move away from bubblegum pop and into more mature rock, Jack Johnson type singer/songwriter, and even flirtations with world music. Here We Go Again debuted at #1. Besides the Jonas Brothers, she’s also performed with Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez. Demi also claims to be a huge metalhead, a fan of black metal bands like Children of Bodom and metalcore like Underoath.

Artist Spotlight: Jonas Brothers

They really are named Jonas, they really are brothers, and they really started as a solo act, when Nick Jonas was discovered at age 6, singing in a barbershop. Nick would perform in several Broadway shows before recording his own solo record. When the president of Columbia heard the record, he didn’t like it. But he did like Nick’s voice and the songs he wrote with his brothers. The three were signed.

The trio started touring and opening for artists like Kelly Clarkson, The Backstreet Boys and Jesse McCartney. After releasing two moderately successful studio albums and starring with Miley Cyrus on Hannah Montana, the brothers released their 3rd studio album, A Little Bit Longer. The album debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart and all of the singles, “Burnin’ Up”, “LoveBug”, “Tonight”, “Pushing Me Away”, and “A Little Bit Longer”, all charted on iTunes top songs chart.

The Jonases also opened for Avril Lavigne and helped to produce Demi Lovato’s debut album. From the barbershop to one of the biggest pop rock bands, the Jonas Brothers have come a long way. Jump over to Flycell.com now and get your dose of the hunky brothers now.

Artist Spotlight: Miley Cyrus

Is she a multi-platinum teen pop rock superstar or does she just play one on TV? Either way, the daughter of Achy Breaky Heart singer and mullet rocker, Billy Ray Cyrus, is a modern teen icon.

Miley burst on the scene in 2006 as her alter ego Hannah Montana in the Disney TV show of the same name. The soundtrack followed and immediately went to number one, beating out several other artists, such as John Legend. Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus followed, a unique double disc in which one disc was by Miley’s character Hannah and the other was the debut album of Miley herself.

In 2008, Miley released her second studio album Breakout. It was her first album to not mention the Hannah Montana character. It also debuted at number 1, largely on the strength of the single, “7 Things.” The album also features a cover of Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”, as well as fellow pop queen Katy Perry on backup vocals on the title track, “Breakout.”

Miley also participated on the Artists Stand Up to Cancer track, “Just Stand Up!”, with several other artists like Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Mary J Blige, Fergie, Rihanna, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Natasha Bedingfield, Leona Lewis, Keyshia Cole, Ashanti, and Ciara. She also recorded songs for the movie soundtrack to Bolt and admitted to dating Nick Jonas of The Jonas Brothers for 2 years.
