Compliment Day

How nice of you to visit the Talkster blog today. I can see by your choice of websites, that you are an intelligent person. I love the way you read our posts on your computer or your phone. How wise you are. I bet you smell good too.

Yes, it’s Compliment Day.

Compliment Day offers the perfect opportunity to say something complimentary and positive to all the people you come into contact with. Go out of your way today to reach out to the people you know who have good attributes (hint: everyone has at least a few good attributes, even if you have to dig. Get creative!).

It’s a cinch to find compliments for friends; after all, friends are friends because you like something about them. Here’s an idea. Make a list of each of your friends (near or far). Call each one of them to personally share a compliment today. An easy compliment to a friend might be: “Wow, you’re very intelligent… you choose your friends wisely”.

It can be more challenging to come up with compliments for long lost family members or people you “have to like” (like your mother in law). But, today IS compliment day, so take the challenge head-on and come up with a compliment to share with them too.

To make your job easier today Talkster has partnered with Rebtel to give you $5 worth of free calls all over the world. That’s a lot of time to share a lot of compliments. Don’t think you can come up with enough compliments? No need to worry. ComplimentDay.com offers a nice list of compliment suggestions to start you on your way: http://www.complimentday.com/ComplimentsPage.htm

So pick up the phone and start dishing the compliments as soon as you can!

Thanks again for coming by the blog to read this post. You make writing this post worth the effort. And gosh darn it, people like you.

Truly Steeped Savings… January is Hot Tea Month

While that perfect cup of tea is steeped in history and tradition, Talkster is offering callers international calling rates deeply steeped in savings!

With Talkster you can call China, the birthplace of tea nearly 5,000 years ago, for rates as low as 0.019 cents per minute.

Use Talkster to call Morocco, where the national drink is Green Tea with Mint, just 0.21 cents per minute.

In honor of National Hot Tea Month Talkster encourages you to treat yourself to a proper English High Tea. Most people consider this the quintessential British experience. However, as tea has increased in popularity, American restaurants and hotels are offering formal afternoon tea as well. Fine china, silver serving trays and white tablecloths are de rigueur. High Tea is about sophistication and atmosphere rather than food, but don’t let that stop you. At the conclusion of your English High Tea adventure hastily call your chaps in the United Kingdom to remind them of how sophisticated you are. With Talkster, the call will only cost you 0.019 cents per min.

To celebrate the world’s second most popular beverage (second only to water) Talkster is offering $5 in free calls, in partnership with Rebtel. So pick up the phone and wish someone a happy hot tea month today!

Happy Birthday Benjamin Franklin

On this day in 1706 Benjamin Franklin was born. He would become famous as a scientist, an inventor, a statesman, a printer, a philosopher, a musician, and an economist. Today, we honor Benjamin Franklin as one of our Founding Fathers whose ideas are still very much alive.

Ben Franklin’s personal ideas about economics helped to shape our country’s economy, including an idea that would become the soul of the “American Dream” – - the idea that all people are created equal and through hard work each person has the same opportunity to achieve success.

Ben used his printing skills to print paper money, helping to establish the paper currency system in America. Today, we honor Ben’s contribution to the economy every time we drop a $100 bill: Ben’s face appears on it.

It’s all about the Benjamins baby.

In partnership with Rebtel, Talkster celebrates Benjamin Franklin’s birthday today by offering callers $5 in free calls (we wanted to give you $100, but that’s just not good economics now is it? Ben was a good business man too).

Happy Birthday Ben.

Is it really International Skeptics Day today?

Yes. It is. Trust us.

By definition, a skeptic is a person who questions or doubts facts and theories. Here at Talkster we deal with skeptics all the time. People wonder, “Can Talkster really save me money on my international calls?” Why yes, we can. That’s exactly why we’re here.

The “doubting Thomas” asks us time and time again, “how can you charge pennies a minute when my cell phone company is charging me more than a dollar a minute for international calls?” The skeptics are skeptical because our calling rates seem too good to be true. And every skeptic worth his salt knows that if something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Don’t be a disbeliever when it comes to Talkster and our ultra low calling rates. We can save you money, and that’s the plain truth. Give us a try. Still skeptical? Well then, to prove it to you without a shadow of a doubt, in partnership with Rebtel we’ll give $5 in free calls to all those still skeptical that they can save money on their long distance and international phone bills. You’ll see!

Oh, and in case you doubted their existence, there are skeptics groups all over the world. Check them out for yourself at http://www.freeinquiry.com/skeptic/organizations/ .
